Site Assessment & Significance Evaluation

back=>

The Assessment is the essential document presenting all stakeholders with the archaeological data and the arguments leading to the interpretation of the site(s).

ASL focuses on detail and accuracy of the archaeological data. 'Getting it right' is important, as the assessment forms the basis for the clients risk management. Minimizing the potential for accidental discovery during earthworks by accurate and detailed surveying, including non-intrusive geophysical surveying, reduces the risk of unexpected prolonged stand down periods while earthworks are taking place.

We listen to various stakeholders and, where necessary, compare traditional knowledge of sites with the archaeological results.  We aim to ensure possible areas of potential conflict are recognised early on in the process and can be discussed before final decisions are made, and costly changes to plans have to be carried out.
