Landscape Surveys / Geographical Information Systems

Exploring surface features of sites are the starting point of all investigations.

With the advent of robotic total stations and RTK GPS it is possible to accurately record surface features in detail and link them into the wider archaeological landscape. Using Geographical Information Systems these features can be shown, analyzed and related to other data such as proposed development plans.

This hard data allows an interpretation of the wider archaeological landscape and the significance of sites within.
